Lizzie Maya

Lizzie started studying yoga 13 years ago, but when she walked into her first Anusara class suddenly the practice of yoga made sense and took on new meaning for her life and work. She did her Teacher Training with Vishali Varga this past summer (2006) and is excited to take her practice into the teaching realm. Lizzie was a nursery school teacher for many years in New York City; she is also a trained Music Together Teacher and has taught both art and drama to young children. She also taught speech and leadership classes in Newark High Schools for Stand and Deliver. Lizzie started meditating 15 years ago and has studied meditation, philosophy and pranayama with Lama Surya Das, Sat Hon, and at East West in NYC. Lizzie is a mother to her five year old son Diego and wife to husband Rob Barron.
